This week Keith Brown, the Scottish Transport Minister, announced the establishment of the East Lothian Community Rail Partnership, the second in Scotland. The partnership will cover both lines from Edinburgh to North Berwick and Dunbar, working with East Lothian Council, local business and community groups as well as the rail industry. This is a result of the Scottish Government policy to enhance local railways through community involvement.
The Scottish Government has partnered with the Association of Community Rail Partnerships (ACoRP) to help develop Community Rail Partnerships in Scotland. ACoRP General Manager Neil Buxton said: “ACoRP is pleased to be able to support the establishment of new CRPs in Scotland. Communities in all areas of Scotland are seeing the benefits of working together in partnership and we are looking forward to helping the East Lothian CRP to achieve positive outcomes.”
